30 Days on Drunk Elephant: Drunk Elephant Review

January 13, 2019

As you guys know, I’m always on the hunt for new skin care product to try. Drunk Elephant is one of those brands that I’ve heard good things about but never tried. On my best friend’s recommendation I decided to take the plunge. Over a 30 day period I exclusively used Drunk Elephant products including;  T.L.C Sukari Babyfacial, C-Firma Day Serum, B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum, Marula Luxury Facial Oil. You can find my Drunk Elephant Review below.

Drunk Elephant Products

C-Firma Day Serum: I only used this product a handful of times. It was incredibly sticky, dark in color, and smelled a little “off.” I’ve read that Vitamin C can go bad easily. So I chalked it up to a bad batch, threw it away,  and kept using the other Drunk Elephant Products. I will say it is concerning that such an expensive product could end up unusable.

B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum: I wanted to love this product but it ultimately didn’t work for my skin. My skin is normal to oily and the B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum did not provide enough moisture. When I used this product alone my skin absorbed it fairly quickly and in 10 minutes would feel dry again. After a second round of B-Hydra I was left with the same results. Topping this product with another moisturizer or oil were the only ways to make it work for my skin.

T.L.C Sukari Babyfacial: I was so excited to try this product. I’ve been on the hunt for a good peel and the online reviews of T.L.C Sukari Babyfacial were spectacular. A lot of reviewers warned of burning and I was ready (does anyone else feel like this make you think the product is working? No? Just me??). When I first used the mask I felt one or two tingles…then nothing at all. The next week when I tried the product I wore it for longer. By the end of the month I was up to 30 minutes and I had zero results, incredibly dry skin.

Update (5/14/19):  So. I kept at it (who throws away an $80 product?) and the T.L.C Sukari Babyfacial in combination with a retinol did make a noticeable difference in my skin. My skin looks brighter, feels smoother, and I’ve have noticed a decrease in some of my lines and wrinkles. Using the T.L.C Sukari Babyfacial for only 20 minutes and following up with a retinol seemed to be the key.

Marula Luxury Facial Oil: All of all the Drunk Elephant products I’ve tried I liked the Marula Luxury Facial Oil the most. For those who find Drunk Elephant products to be drying the Marula Luxury Facial Oil is a a quick way to provide your skin with a little more hydration. I found two pumps of the Marula Oil mixed with the B-Hydra was enough to keep my skin hydrated all day. And, it didn’t make my skin feel to oily. I do believe the Marula Luxury Facial Oil made my skin look brighter but did not notice any anti aging effects.

At the end of the day I’m pretty meh on the Drunk Elephant line. I expected to see more results from exclusive use of such an expensive products. I’m also not a huge fan of mixing products. (How do you know you’re getting the exact same combination each time??).

Because most people love about the Drunk Elephant, I’m willing to admit it might just not work that well with my skin. If you’re still interested in trying their products I highly recommend you purchase one of their many kits (like The Littles Kit) so you can try them all without breaking the bank! And if you’re looking to make the switch to all drunk elephant products check out this page for a recommended Morning Routine and this page for a recommended Evening Routine.

If you’ve used any of these products before let me know how they work for you! And as always, let me know about any recent skin care products that you love and think I should try!

It’s so disappointing that it didn’t work, everyone raves about the babyfacial, I so wanted to try it!

Skincare products are like clothes. They’re not a one-size-fits-all thing. What might work for some may not work for you because our skin is different from one another. Keep looking, girl.

Hey girl hey! Thanks for your review on the DE. I have recently tried a string of products( Tatcha,F.A.B and Clinique). I’m now going down the DE tunnel with the “littles” kit. I will try this and remain hopeful 🙂.

It attracted me from the name but seems like it didn’t do much :/ Thank you for honest experience.

I just discovered Dr. V’s YouTube channel. She recommends skincare for brown and black skin— she mostly dislikes all the products that you tried from their line but she does recommend their spf, eye cream and peptide cream. You probably don’t intend to try anything new from Drunk Elephant but she’s definitely a good resource before trying new things.
