how to create a vision board

Vision Board Supplies
How to Create a Vision Board: I think the former scrapbook fanatic in me loves any opportunity to craft. On a deeper level I love the idea of taking the time to truly reflect on my dreams and desires and the opportunity to manifest my future.

Before I restarted my blog one of my most popular posts was the one on vision boards, I decided to do an updated post on how and why I make vision boards.

I love, love, love a good vision board.

I made my first vision board during undergrad after learning about the law of attraction and watching The Secret documentary (which I highly recommend). Since my first vision board I’ve made one at the beginning of any big venture. I made a vision board when I graduated from undergrad, when I started my first job, and I made one when I started law school. Below is the vision board I made when I graduated from undergrad, I currently attend one of the law schools I put on my board! (thoughts really do become things!)

What you’ll need to create your own vision board is scissors, crafting supplies, and magazines. I like to go to my local craft store (coupons in hand!) and purchase card stock (I get a large piece to serve as the base of my vision board), stickers, letters, and some type of adhesive. Magazines can be purchase from any convince store or grocery store, although for my vision board I took some old magazines from my parents house (#ImOnALawStudentBudget).

how to

Once I’ve gathered all my supplies, I find a quiet space and flip through the magazines to find things that inspire me. I cut out pictures, quotes, article titles, and sometimes sections of articles themselves. When I made my current vision board I thought about the next three years of my life; places I want to go, milestones I hope to accomplish, and the type of life I want to lead. All the images I selected corresponded to what I hope the next three years of my life look like in some way.

Finally, I arrange all my clippings on the card stock (my Type A personality peaking through) before gluing them on.

My vision board is currently hanging above my desk (where I spend most of my time) which allows me to reflect on it each day. Since making my vision board I’ve traveled to a few new cities (I even did an international trip, it was amazing, maybe I’ll blog about it later) and I got engaged! I’m still working on that GWagen though!

the best february ever?

Nada Mexican restaurant

February was an amazing month! Possibly the best February I’ve ever had…

I took advantage of the of the slow start to the semester and tried to get out more than I usually do. I went to my city’s restaurant week, hit up a few different happy hours, and attended my law school’s barristers ball.

This month I also had a lot of reasons to celebrate! I secured a few job offers for my 2L summer (I haven’t formally accepted any yet), my law review note was published, and I got engaged!!

It was a complete surprise and I honestly wasn’t expecting it at all. He asked my parents for my hand in marriage in during finals (I had no idea he went or was even planning on going!) he picked out the ring a few weeks ago, and was just waiting for the perfect time to propose. I ugly cried and got so excited I forgot to say yes (true story lol) but it was honestly perfect.

I don’t plan to turn this into a wedding blog but I do plan on documenting  what will without a doubt be a big Nigerian wedding! Let me know what you guys would like to see!

Hi guys! It’s been a while but I’m back!

I had to take a step back and reflect on what I wanted my blog to reflect and more importantly what I wanted to get out of blogging. I’ve revamped my site, changed the name, changed my direction a little, and I’m really excited for this fresh start!

While I was gone I got a job, traveled a bit,had my law review note published (!!!),  worked a lot, read even more, completed my 1L year, and I got engaged! (I probably should have led with this right? lol).

Over the next year I plan to write about the things that are going on in my life, some law related and some not (because lets be real when I’m not at the firm or my law school I don’t really want to think about either). I hope you guys will be along for the ride!
